We often find that it is the memorable experiences that help us remember the things we learn. Hence, we have designed exiting and varied evening-arrangements for our conference guests. Be prepared to set your course for new adventures!

Kingdom of the Glaicer
Best Western Skei Hotel is situated right in the middle of the 'Kingdom of the Glacier', and we invite our conference participants to an evening in this staggering kingdom. We start with an appetiser at the Norwegian Glacier Museum in Fjærland. Here the supervideograf of Ivo Caprino presents the Glacier of Jostedalen in a way only those with wings are allowed to see it. We move on to Brevasshytta, which is situated right by the glacierarm of Bøyabreen. Here we enjoy a panoramic view of the glacier while dinner is served. Note: a glacier-walk and a helicopter trip over the glacier itself can also be arranged on request.

Close to the hotel is a nearly 300 year old log-built house with rafted ceiling (called 'Sperrestove'), where visits or special group arrangements can be catered for. In front of a crackling fire amongst candles and rafted walls we serve traditional fare based on local recipes and traditions. You will learn about the local cultural heritage and music traditions.

The art of living
Join us for a visit to Astruptunet, the home of the painter and graphic artist Nikolai Astrup (1880-1928), and literally feel how he lived his artist life. At Astruptunet, the house and small-holding is today a museum. You will find it just as it was in Astrups days, nestling among the steep but fertile slopes on the south side of the Jølster Lake. The painter lived most of his life in the Jølster area and is often regarded as one of the most Norwegian of all the national artists. From the farm there are extensive views over Jølster Lake and the surrounding villages. The art exhibition by Ludvig Eikaas and other famous artists at Eikaasgalleriet right across the Jølster Lake will provide a magnificent setting for the rest of the evening.

From Jølster Fiskesenter we can arrange fishing trips guided by Eivind Fossheim, one of the greatest experts in the area when it comes to trout and fishing in general. After the fishing trip we are invited to a fresh and x troutmeal in the best of local traditions in x surroundings. Jølstratunet is a unique local folk museum in miniature, which consists of several buildings like 'Eldstova', 'Strandstova' and 'Låven'.
